Man suspects disgruntled contractor may have intentionally flooded home under renovation: Beachwood police blotter

BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Criminal damage: Somerset Drive

At 11:45 a.m. Aug. 25, the owner of a construction business reported his belief that someone deliberately flooded during the previous night a home that was under renovation. The man reported damage totaling $12,000. He suspects a disgruntled contractor. Police are investigating.

Disturbance: Chagrin Boulevard

At 11:30 a.m. Aug. 26, police were called to an office where a woman, 21, of Maple Heights, was reportedly causing a disturbance by yelling at employees. The woman, it was learned, was refusing to wear a mask. Police escorted the woman from the building.

Theft: Sherwood Court

At noon Aug. 26, a woman, 90, reported the theft from her home of jewelry valued at $8,850. The woman’s home has been undergoing a long period of renovation, dating to early 2020. She moved out for a time and returned in April, 2021.

When the woman looked for her jewelry on Aug. 26, she found it missing. She believes that those working on her home are suspects.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 2:25 p.m. Aug. 26, two unknown males stole 13 bottles of Tom Ford fragrances from Nordstrom’s at Beachwood Place mall, 26300 Cedar Road. The total value of the theft was $2,369.55. The suspects were not apprehended.

Theft: Chagrin Boulevard

At 5:35 p.m. Aug. 26, police arrested a Cleveland man, 28, for stealing items valued at $189.94 from Giant Eagle, 24601 Chagrin Blvd.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 8 p.m. Aug. 27, police arrested a Pittsburgh man, 36, for stealing a leather jacket and other items from Saks Fifth Avenue at Beachwood Place. The theft totaled $1,360.

Assault: Fairmount Boulevard

At 8:55 a.m. Aug. 28, police were called to a condominium where a man, 74, assaulted another man, 81. The younger man reportedly punched the other man in retaliation for a sexual offense that occurred against him when they were boys. The younger man was charged with assault.

Domestic violence: Grosvenor Road

At 11:35 p.m. Aug. 28, a South Euclid man, 42, and his wife, 28, went for a car ride. During that ride, while in Beachwood, the couple argued about having a child. The man then allegedly ripped hair from his wife’s head and struck her. Beachwood police arrested and charged the man with domestic violence.

Assault: Amhearst Circle

At 7:10 p.m. Aug. 29, a Richmond Heights man, 33, and a Beachwood woman, 41, argued in the woman’s home. The woman later told police that the two are not romantically involved. The man is alleged to have thrown items at the woman, including a bar stool.

Police charged the man with assault and criminal damage.

OVI: Richmond Road

At 2:50 a.m. Aug. 29, police found a woman’s car stopped in the road at Richmond Road and Eaton Boulevard. The woman, 31, of Euclid, was found found to be intoxicated. She was arrested and charged with OVI and having a blood-alcohol content of greater than .17. In Ohio, a driver is considered impaired with a BAC of at least .08.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 11:50 a.m. Aug. 31, police arrested a Cleveland man, 28, for stealing merchandise valued at $1,039.90 from Dillard’s at Beachwood Place.

Warrant arrest: George Zeiger Drive

At 12:30 a.m. Aug. 31, police were called to an apartment on a noise complaint. It was subsequently learned that a 22-year-old Euclid woman at the apartment was wanted on a Cleveland police warrant for aggravated robbery. Police arrested the woman on the warrant.
